“Creativity into Livelihood” – Toys & Jewellery Making

With the support of TCSF, SARVAM organised a seven-day skill development training programme on Toys and Jewellery Making for women from 15 villages, held at the Satyam Community Centre. The programme was thoughtfully designed to nurture creative talent while equipping participants with market-oriented skills that can meaningfully contribute to their economic empowerment and livelihood development.

The training aimed to develop practical skills in handmade toy and jewellery production, introduce participants to a variety of materials, tools, and techniques, and encourage creativity and product refinement. Beyond skill-building, the programme also focused on building participants’ confidence in producing attractive, quality products and creating awareness of opportunities to market and sell their handmade creations through local sales, exhibitions, and small-scale enterprises.

The programme followed a practical and participatory approach throughout. Trained trainers demonstrated techniques step-by-step, after which participants engaged in hands-on practice. Individual guidance and corrections were provided at every stage to help participants improve their finishing, quality, and creative expression, ensuring that each woman left with both skill and confidence.

By the end of the seven-day programme, participants had gained meaningful hands-on experience in crafting handmade toys and jewellery, and had developed a clearer understanding of how these skills can be channelled into home-based production, local entrepreneurship, and supplementary income generation. The training successfully kindled a spirit of creativity and self-reliance among women, encouraging them to explore new avenues of economic independence within their communities.
