Rainy Season Safety Awareness through Student-led Poster-MakingSARVAM successfully conducted the Rainy Season Safety Awareness and Poster-Making Programme across 15 locations, engaging more than 300 students. The initiative aimed to educate students and the wider community about essential safety measures during the rainy season and encourage the adoption of preventive practices to protect public health and safety.

The programme focused on creating awareness about the potential hazards associated with heavy rainfall, including floods, electrical accidents, mosquito-borne diseases and contaminated drinking water. It also sought to educate students and community members about flood and electrical safety, promote personal hygiene, sanitation and environmental cleanliness, and encourage students to develop their creativity and communication skills through poster-making activities.

As part of the programme, students actively participated in preparing colourful posters and charts illustrating important rainy season safety measures. These creative materials highlighted practical precautions that individuals and families should follow to stay safe during the monsoon season.

To extend the reach of the awareness initiative beyond the schools, students also organised awareness walks in their respective villages. Carrying their posters and charts, they interacted with members of the public and communicated important safety messages. They explained the need to avoid flooded areas, stay away from exposed electrical wires, consume safe drinking water, prevent mosquito breeding and maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.

Through these awareness walks, students took an active role in communicating preventive measures to village communities and encouraging responsible behaviour during the rainy season. Their participation helped reinforce the importance of individual and collective responsibility in safeguarding community health and safety.

The programme successfully enhanced awareness among students and the public about common rainy season hazards and the precautions necessary to prevent accidents and illness. In addition to promoting public health and safety, the activities provided students with opportunities to strengthen their creativity, teamwork, leadership and communication skills. By combining poster-making with community awareness walks, SARVAM encouraged young people to become active contributors to the well-being and safety of their communities.
