On 2 March 2026, the Village Volunteers Group – Women Care Circle, under the aegis of SARVAM, celebrated International Women’s Day with 200 vulnerable and elderly women across the project villages. The initiative was thoughtfully organised to honour, include and uplift women who are often neglected, ensuring they experienced a day filled with dignity, warmth and togetherness. The celebration reflected a spirit of compassion and community bonding, creating a vibrant and joyful atmosphere for all participants.
The programme began with a heart-warming cake-cutting ceremony, where the women enthusiastically gathered to mark the occasion. Their smiles, applause and shared laughter highlighted the emotional significance of being remembered and valued. For many, it was a rare opportunity to celebrate themselves in a supportive and affectionate environment.
A special highlight of the event was the Kolam competition conducted for the elderly participants. Despite age-related challenges, including trembling hands, the women carefully crafted intricate and beautiful designs with dedication and pride. The focus remained on encouragement and participation rather than competition, reinforcing the message of inclusion and self-expression. Simple games were also organised, bringing renewed energy and laughter, allowing the women to relive moments of youthful joy.
The celebration concluded with a wholesome and delicious meal served to all attendees. Volunteers ensured that every participant was comfortably seated and well attended to, reflecting sincere care and respect. The women expressed heartfelt gratitude and blessed the volunteers for their compassion and thoughtful efforts. The event successfully strengthened community bonds and reaffirmed the commitment to supporting vulnerable women with empathy and dignity.
