Teachers’ Day ethics class – Respect and Value Your Teachers

Date: 30-Aug-2026

Location: 10 Project Villages

As part of its efforts to nurture positive values among children, SARVAM conducted a Teachers’ Day ethics class for 300 students across 10 project locations on 30 August 2026. The session aimed to create awareness about the importance of teachers and encourage students to develop a respectful and positive approach towards them.

The session focused on the vital role teachers play in shaping the lives, character and future of students. Using the example of a sculptor, the facilitators explained how teachers, like artists, help shape young minds by identifying undesirable habits, correcting mistakes, nurturing positive qualities and guiding students towards becoming responsible and well-rounded individuals.

An engaging song-based learning activity helped the students understand how teachers encourage them to recognise their talents, develop their abilities and build confidence. The session also highlighted the importance of discipline, ethics, good manners and responsible behaviour, encouraging students to recognise the role teachers play in helping them grow into mature, confident and respectful members of society.

The students were also encouraged to understand that teachers often serve as parents, well-wishers and advisers within the school environment. The session emphasised the importance of viewing corrections and disciplinary guidance positively, recognising that such interventions are generally intended for the students’ growth and well-being. Rather than reacting negatively to correction, students were encouraged to reflect on the guidance they receive and learn from it.

The programme further addressed appropriate ways of communicating with teachers. Students were encouraged to speak politely, maintain respectful eye contact, listen attentively and follow instructions carefully. The importance of avoiding interruptions and remaining attentive while receiving guidance was also reinforced.

The session concluded by encouraging students to express appreciation and gratitude towards their teachers for their dedication, knowledge, guidance, values and continuous support. Overall, the programme helped reinforce the importance of gratitude, discipline, good manners and respect for teachers among the participating students.

The programme concluded with the message: “Respect your teachers, value their guidance, and become the best person you can be.”
