On February 19, 2025, SARVAM, Puducherry, organised a one-day inter-village sports competition at the Satyam Community Centre, bringing together 100 women from 12 villages. Designed specifically for women aged 30 to 45, this initiative aimed to break societal barriers, encourage physical activity, and promote mental well-being among rural women.
The event featured a variety of competitions, including running, kabaddi, and relay games, fostering a spirit of teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship. In many rural areas, women have limited opportunities to participate in sports, often due to societal norms. SARVAM took the initiative to empower them through sports, helping them reduce stress, build confidence, and experience joy.
The participants enthusiastically engaged in the games, cherishing this rare opportunity for recreation and achievement. The competition concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, honouring the winners and inspiring others to take part in future events. Many women expressed their heartfelt gratitude to SARVAM for organising such a meaningful programme that left a lasting impact on their lives.
By encouraging rural women to break stereotypes and embrace sports, SARVAM has made a significant step in fostering confidence, well-being, and community unity.
