Location: 12 project villages
On account of International Volunteers’ Day, SARVAM conducted various programs for 300 women volunteers in 12 villages.
International Volunteer Day is celebrated every year on December 5 to acknowledge the impact of volunteer work worldwide. It is essential to celebrate the work of volunteers at all levels, including local, national, and international levels, and to showcase what they are doing worldwide.
The celebration of International Volunteers’ Day gives volunteer-involving organizations and individual volunteers a chance to promote volunteerism, encourage governments to support volunteer efforts, and recognize volunteer contributions at the local, national, and international levels to achieving Sustainable Development Goals.
The theme of International Volunteer Day (IVD) 2022 is solidarity through volunteering.
SARVAM gave an orientation to the volunteers. It was instilled in them that only by working together problems related to the rising inequalities around the world can be addressed. The volunteers were made aware of the fact that compassion and solidarity join hands together when one volunteer. Mutual trust, humility, respect, and equality make the volunteers work for a common cause. SARVAM made it clear that it honours all its volunteers of all its 12 project villages.
Also, a variety of activities were carried out by the volunteers in the 12 villages, such as collecting garbage in the common places, planting trees, gifting plants to the vulnerable, helping the poor by providing food and nutrition powder, sharing volunteer experiences, planning future volunteer work, enjoying snacks, celebrating with rangoli, having group discussions, and taking pledges to do volunteer work.
The volunteers enlightened the students about the mental satisfaction and fulfilment they get when they volunteer for a social cause. They requested the students to volunteer themselves during their spare time.
