Skilling for Self-Reliance: Mehndi Art Training for Rural Volunteers

Date: July 1 – July 5, 2025

Location: Satyam Training Centre

As part of its continued efforts to foster skill development and economic empowerment in rural communities, SARVAM, in collaboration with Junior Chamber International (JCI), organised a five-day Mehndi (Henna) Art Training Programme for village volunteers. Held from 1st to 5th July 2025 at the Satyam Training Centre in Puducherry, this initiative aimed to provide participants with creative, hands-on skills that can be transformed into income-generating opportunities.

The training covered a range of Mehndi design techniques—from traditional motifs to contemporary styles—offering both artistic guidance and practical application. Experienced trainers provided close mentoring, ensuring that each participant received individual attention to develop their skills and creativity. The interactive format created a dynamic learning environment where volunteers felt confident to express themselves, share ideas, and steadily improve.

A standout aspect of the training was the high level of enthusiasm and commitment shown by the participants. Their dedication was evident in their active engagement, willingness to learn, and rapid improvement in design skills over the course of the programme.

The training concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, recognising the efforts and accomplishments of each participant. Sponsored entirely by JCI, this programme not only equipped volunteers with valuable skills but also strengthened SARVAM’s mission of empowering rural individuals through partnerships that promote self-reliance and sustainable development.
