Sri Aurobindo Rural & Village Action & Movement (SARVAM), an initiative of Sri Aurobindo Society, organized a tour for 70 community women in the villages, to the ancient cities of Thanjavur.

On December 1 and 2, 2018, the U.S. Consulate General, Chennai, in partnership with NalandaWay Foundation, hosted a two-day “South India Youth Speak Summit” at the Madras Management Association Center in which 11 Access Alumni students from SARVAM participated.

On November 25, 2018, the students of the English Access MicroScholarship Program at SARVAM participated in the ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women’ Awareness Program.

On November 24, 2018, the SARVAM Community FM Radio Station in Tamil, ‘Pudiya Udayam’ celebrated its fourth anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, a small celebratory function was organized at the SATYAM centre.

SARVAM, in association with L&T Financial Services, conducted a one-day Data Collection Workshop for their village coordinators on October 22, 2018.

SARVAM, in association with Shanti Ashram, conducted an awareness programme on the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (IDEP) on October 19, 2018.

On September 21, 2018, a teachers’ training workshop was conducted for English as a part of the English Access Micro Scholarship Program at SARVAM.

On September 16, 2018, 70 students learning English as a part of the English Access Micro Scholarship Program participated in the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer Awareness Program and created posters to commemorate the day.

On September 12, 2018, SARVAM hosted a women empowerment programme as a part of the JCI Week, which laid emphasis on creating opportunities, space and scope for the development of the talents of the rural women.

On September 2, 2018, all the 100 children learning English as a part of the English Access Micro Scholarship Program celebrated the US Labor Day by creating posters and writing slogans.

SARVAM Directors attended a Practitioners Training Course on Social Return on Investment (SROI) at Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Leadership Development Academy, Lonavala, Maharashtra, on August 29–31, 2018.

SARVAM organized a Digital and Financial Literacy Programme for 51 women leaders from 15 project villages on July 11, 2018.

On July 15, 2018, 10 Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) and two coordinators conducted English classes for the SARVAM students as a part of the English Access Micro Scholarship Program.

A mid-term intensive session of English Access Micro-Scholarship Program was conducted at Satyam Campus of SARVAM from May 26–28, 2018.

SARVAM’S 10th Annual Summer Camp was held from May 7 to 24, 2018.

The Governor of Tamil Nadu, Thiru Banwarilal Purohit visited the SARVAM summer camp site at Poothurai on May 18, 2018.

To commemorate the Women’s Day, Rotary Club and Inner Wheel, Puducherry, organized a Health Camp on March 11, 2018, in which doctors from Pondicherry Ortho Specialty Hospital (POSH) carried out free check-up of various ailments and diseases that especially affect women.

On March 10 and 11, 2018, Pondicherry Science Forum conducted a workshop in Puducherry on Zero-Shadow Day (ZSD) for teachers, technical professionals and science communicators from the southern states.

IITM and Sri Aurobindo Society have formalized an agreement (through an MOU) for the Institute to administer training programmes and share innovative rural technology and tools for the social and economic development of villages under Sri Aurobindo Rural & Village Action & Movement (SARVAM). 

On March 7, 2018, SARVAM organized a motivational programme to create awareness on the importance of cleanliness, hygiene and the need for toilets in each household.
