Uniting Villages Through Sports: SARVAM’s Inter-Village Competition

From 23 to 28 December 2024, SARVAM organised an exciting inter-village sports competition across 10 locations, bringing together 300 students from 15 villages. This vibrant event aimed to promote unity, fitness, and sportsmanship while celebrating the diverse talents of young athletes in the region.

The competition featured a wide range of sports, including running, shot put, discus throw, kho-kho, kabaddi, and throw ball, divided into three age categories: under 8, 8 to 11, and 11 to 16 years. Each event showcased the participants’ athleticism and determination, with running races drawing cheers from enthusiastic spectators, while strength-based events like shot put and discus throw highlighted skill and perseverance. Traditional team games such as kho-kho and kabaddi reflected the cultural heritage of the villages, and throw ball for older participants brought strategy and teamwork to the forefront.

Throughout the competition, the participants demonstrated remarkable sportsmanship and unity. Younger children charmed the audience with their energy and enthusiasm, while older athletes exhibited grit and competitive spirit. The organising committee ensured a well-coordinated schedule, allowing every child to enjoy and excel. Parents and community members added to the festive atmosphere, cheering the participants and fostering a spirit of togetherness.

The event culminated in a heartwarming awards ceremony, honouring the outstanding performers in each category and event. The smiles on the children’s faces reflected the joy and confidence gained from participating in the competition. This inter-village sports event not only served as a platform for nurturing young talent but also strengthened bonds among the villages, leaving everyone excited for the next edition.
