Location:8 Different Villages
From 12 to 15 July 2024, SARVAM Puducherry, with support from CPCL, conducted a community health screening initiative across eight different villages. Volunteers from the villages performed Sugar HB and BP tests, screening over 550 individuals.
This initiative, which took place at people’s doorsteps, aimed to improve early detection of health issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and anaemia. Early detection can lead to better management, prevent complications, reduce healthcare costs, and improve the overall quality of life for individuals.
SARVAM’s regular health camps have been beneficial, but due to their limited capacity, many villagers could not access these services. To address this, the door-to-door screening initiative was introduced, ensuring broader access to essential health tests. The screenings, conducted by trained village volunteers, significantly improved early disease detection, allowing for timely medical interventions. The overall health of the community is expected to see notable improvement as a result of this initiative.
Villagers expressed their gratitude and requested that the door-to-door screenings be conducted monthly. The large turnout and positive feedback highlighted the community’s appreciation for the service, demonstrating a strong sense of mutual support and collective well-being. This initiative not only provided essential health checks but also fostered a sense of community and shared responsibility for health.
